Through
out its history the most common use of the ukulele
has been to accompany the singing voice. The
Hawaiians have used the instrument to extend
their culture, the performers of the Tin Pan
Alley era accompanied popular tunes of their
time, and the ukulele was used at gatherings
through out the 1930s, 40s, and
50s to accompany sing
alongs. The Langley Ukulele Ensemble has extended
this idea of strummin and singin
by taking popular songs, adding rich vocal harmonies
to create 14 arrangements. Summer at its hottest!
