Uke Camp
Langley Ukulele Camp 15th Year: COVID friendly and Successful!
During the week of August 16-19, 2021, the Langley Ukulele Association hosted a week-long uke camp for 60 children. COVID restrictions meant that enrolment was limited to 15 students per learning group in 4 separate classes. This event has always featured excellent teaching and these students were truly fortunate to have been taught by Senior Ensemble Director, Paul Luongo, Intermediate Ensemble Director, Elizabeth Zielke, long time community uke teacher, Mark Luongo, the incomparable Mr. Thomas, and internationally renown ukulele maestro and teacher, Mr. Peter Luongo.
The week culminated with each group providing a mini-concert for parents. Everyone observed physical distance guidelines as the presentation took place and each group showcased the skills that they had learned during the weeklong camp.
Thanks to the students for their attention and enthusiasm; to parents for supporting the program and the COVID guidelines, to the organizers and helpers for their time and commitment, and to the teachers for their excellent work presenting music instruction to these children.
