Under the direction of Paul Luongo, the Senior Ensemble has developed a reputation at home and abroad for excellence in musical performance. The 25 ensemble members range in age from 13 to 18 years, and are students attending middle school, secondary or post-secondary institutions.
Also under the direction of Paul Luongo, the Transition Ensemble aims to challenge students to grow in all musical aspects and enhance their overall quality of performance as they prepare to join the Senior Ensemble.
It's been three days since you were here with the Ensemble, and in the intervening time most of the details have been wrapped up. And I've had a chance to look back at the Sunday performance, attend a Club meeting, and get lots of feedback, including talking with many of the Ensemble in the lobby after you and I had our brief chat.
The feelings are unanimous! Everyone, and I mean everyone told me how great the kids --- and their leader --- were at giving us all a fun-filled afternoon interlude at the High School. Your audience, without exception, marveled at the kids' skill, discipline, and smiling demeanor, and admired the way way "their leader" --- I guess that's you --- kept the pace up and the quality high!
"Through music excellence, we cultivate community, ignite powerful leaders, and create awe-inspiring experiences."
Under the direction of Peter Luongo, the Intermediate Ensemble members are typically in their second or third year of ukulele and spend the year learning new skills with the flat pick and learn to build harmony with their voices.
The Langley Ukulele Association is proud to offer for the first time in the 2019-2020 year the Learning Groups. Taught by members of the Senior A Ensemble, supervised by Peter Luongo and Jamie Thomas, this program takes beginner and/or novice level players aged 8 to 11 years old and sequentially develops the skills of members to join one of the Langley Ukulele Ensembles.
